The clinical director of the practice is Dr. Kilislian, who has been working in Toronto as a endodontics specialist since 1997, two years after completing her initial dental training. She continues her education in this specialization today, to the extent that she also lectures to her fellow dentists on advances in endodontic surgery. She is joined at Willowdale Endodontics by Dr. Lipton and Dr. Geisler. Dr. Lipton graduated from the same program as Dr. Kilislian and also chose Toronto as the place to start his private practice. Dr. Geisler is the newest member of the team, having completed her endondontic training in 2015. All three dental professionals are members in good standing of the Ontario and American associations for their specialty.
While the price of root canal surgery is obviously an important detail to understand, Dr. Kilislian and her team at Willowdale Endodontics believe that all patients have a right to specialized endodontic treatment regardless of their financial situation. That being said, if you do have dental insurance, please bring your policy to your first appointment so we may help you with the claims process. Dr. Kilislian treats all patients including those who use government assistance. She also makes herself available 24 hours a day in case of dental emergencies or simply to answer her patients' concerns. If you feel you may benefit from endodontic treatment or a consultation, you are welcome to self-refer to Willowdale Endodontics - a referral from your dentist is not required.
Willowdale Endodontics is dedicated exclusively to endodontic care, which is the specialist branch of dentistry dealing with the root canal system, and includes such treatments as root canal therapy (a non-surgical procedure), root-end resection, and retreatment. The goal of endodontics is to save the natural teeth, and has the added benefit that it is generally much less expensive than removing and replacing a damaged tooth.
The phrase "root canal" seems to strike fear in the heart of many a dental patient, and we can't say why it has developed this reputation. In actual fact, many patients find that having a root canal is a great relief in a painful situation. Having a need for root canal therapy is not something to wish for, but it is the underlying condition (an infection of the tooth's pulp that can cause swelling and pain) and not the treatment that is to be avoided. Well over 14 million root canals are performed each year, with a 90% rate of success. This simple treatment can save your natural teeth and prevent the need for other costly procedures.
The three professional endodontists of the Willowdale practice are supported by Treatment Coordinator Sarah, who brings her education in life sciences and restorative dental hygiene as well as her experience in dental equipment and software consulting to bear on her work with patients. With her varied and extensive education, she is very helpful to patients in providing information and support when evaluating treatment plans and making decisions about their dental health.
When your dentist refers you to Willowdale Endodontics for specialized care beyond what he or she can provide, we take pride in our open communication systems that ensure continuity of care and allow us to create a treatment plan that is personalized to your needs and considers your complete history and preferences. We appreciate the confidence in our care that referring dentists demonstrate by sending patients our way, and always strive to ensure that confidence is well-placed by providing excellent long-term endodontic care and complete communications.
